Solar Lighting for six schools in Burkina Faso

In collaboration with the technician Lassina Nebie and thanks to the economic collaboration of the Diputació de Girona, last month of August six solar lighting installations have been mounted at six classrooms of six schools of the district of Koubri. Each classroom has capacity for 70 to 120 students, so that the beneficiaries will be about 350-600 students, but the fact of having several classrooms with light after dark will mean that the number of beneficiaries will be clearly higher, between 1000 and 2000 students.

The solar installations are adjusted to a standard classroom (usually they are about 60 sq m). They are composed of a photovoltaic solar panel of 50 w, a 70 Ah battery, a regulator of 5 A, five energy saving light bulbs of 5-w, a cable and other accessory equipment for the installation (safe battery, roof supports, wire hooks, etc.)..

Renewable energies are the only option to bring electricity to many African communities where power lines will not be an option in the short and medium term. Solar energy does not require major infrastructure and responds perfectly to the needs of the population of these areas in terms of electrification.
